Our Guide

We accept cats, and dogs who are well behaved, quiet, housebroken, and non-aggressive.  There is a limit of 3 pets.  We will charge a one-time fee of $30 per visit for the first pet, and $10 for each additional pet.  No weight limit.

As a courtesy to all future guests, pets should be flea-free.

Please do not bring dirty dogs into the cottage.  Plan to bring towels to wipe off wet or dirty fur.  We prefer that dogs stay off the furniture, but if you know your dog or cat will be on the couches or beds, bring clean sheets or blankets to completely cover the furniture.

If you leave your dog or cat unattended at the cottage, it must be confined in a crate.  A pet left alone in strange surroundings is very likely to express it's frustration by chewing, scratching or marking it's surroundings: in this case, the cottage.

Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside the cottage.  They may encounter other dogs, see a deer, or find other interesting diversions which would encourage them to run. Neighbors have dogs, cats, horses, etc. which should not be chased.  Dog visitors in the Hocking Hills are, unfortunately, routinely lost in the miles of woods because the owners did not keep them leashed. (ID tags are highly recommended).

Persistent barking is not permitted; please attend to dogs that are barking.

Please clean up after your dog around the cottage property.  We have provided a pooper-scooper and garbage can, or you can bring plastic baggies.

Any damage to the cottage property caused by your pet, will be charged to you in accordance with our Rental Agreement.

Pet Luggage

For the inexperienced pet traveler, may we suggest:

clean, flea-free bed/blanket for sleeping

towels for drying wet fur & feet

leash and collar

ID tags (very important!)

water bottle and dish for traveling

crate with comfy bedding

plastic baggies for cleaning up messes

bones or familiar toys for those times when you may need to leave your pet alone

litter pan for cats

water proof mat for food & water bowls

keep your vet's phone number handy

ALSO:

State parks permit dogs but they must be leashed; you might want to check ahead to make sure you don't have to leave your dog in the car.  Nature preserves, like Conkle's Hollow and Rockbridge do not permit dogs.... and

PLEASE do not ever leave your dog in a hot car, even for a short time with the windows cracked.  Death from heat stroke is a real possibility.

Our Guests:

Alex was the very first dog to enjoy our cottage in the woods.  She's a sweetheart.

 (Thank you, Becky & Chris!)

Brody (aka Brody-Doo) liked

the deck and hiking at Rock House.

He loves his people, Anton and Colleen

Bosco navigates the stairs

at Old Man's Cave, while Oscar, below, happily surveys his new territory.

Thanks, Jenny & Jake!
