Our Guide

Pets: We accept cats, and dogs who are well behaved, quiet, housebroken, and non-aggressive.

Limit: There is a limit of 3 pets.   No weight limit on dogs.

Price: We will charge a one-time fee of $30 for the first pet, and pets 2 & 3 stay for free!  (Most places charge for extra pets.)

No Fleas, Please:   As a courtesy to all future guests, pets must be flea-free.

Dirty Dogs:   We hope your pets have fun here, but please do not bring dirty dogs into the cottage.  Plan to bring towels to wipe off wet or dirty fur.  Dogs are not permitted in the Jacuzzi, hair will clog our septic system.  Bathing should take place outside; you can use the water spigot on the side of the cottage.

Furniture: We prefer that dogs and cats stay off the furniture, but if you know your dog or cat will be on the couches or beds, bring clean sheets or blankets to completely cover the furniture (two couches, two beds).

Crates: If you leave your dog or cat unattended at the cottage, it must be confined in a crate.  A pet left alone in strange surroundings is very likely to express it's frustration by chewing, scratching or marking it's surroundings which, in this case, would be the cottage.

Leashes & tags: Dogs must be kept on a leash when outside the cottage.  They may encounter other dogs, see a deer or other wild creature, or find other interesting diversions which would encourage them to run. Also, there are dogs, cats, horses, etc. in the area which should not be chased.  Dog visitors in the Hocking Hills are, unfortunately, routinely lost in the miles of woods because the owners did not keep them leashed. (ID tags are highly recommended in case they do get loose).

Barking: While we expect to hear dogs bark, persistent barking should be attended to.

Messes: Please clean up after your dog around the cottage property.  We have provided a pooper-scooper and garbage can, and doggie poop bags.  Any deposits left in the wooded area are  OK.

Damage:  Any damage to the cottage property which is caused by your pet, will be charged to you in accordance with our Rental Agreement.

Hiking Restrictions for Dogs:

State parks permit dogs but they must be leashed.  Nature preserves, like Conkle's Hollow and Rock Bridge, do not permit dogs.

PLEASE do not ever leave your dog locked in your car during hot weather, even for a short time with the windows cracked.  Death from heat stroke is a real possibility.

Enjoy the Dog Park at Lake Alma!

This dog park has access to the lake so your dog can frolick and swim to his/her heart's content!  This is a state lake, please visit their website for more information.  During the summer, note you should check the advisories on their web page for water conditions (click below).
